Recent Facebook post after the 2024 Annual Gathering & Private
Treaty Sale, Fayetteville, AR, May 17-18, 2024.
South Central Katahdin Association held it's 24th Annual
Gathering on May 17th-18th, 2024 at the Pauline Whitaker
Animal Science Center, a part of the University of Arkansas
complexes in Fayetteville, Arkansas which was a resounding
success based on the feedback of attendees through our
survey and Facebook comments. With an attendance of
approximately 60 on Friday evening's events, and 75
(including sponsors) for Saturday's events, attendees were
eager to participate in the spectacular give-aways, lectures,
trainings, live demonstrations, and the large variety of
drawings and door prizes that had been donated by several
different sponsors. Sheep representing several farms from
Georgia, Illinois, Missouri and Arkansas were available at the
Private Treaty Sale. The venue was perfect, the weather was
perfect, had plenty of parking and was easy to access.

2024 24th Annual Gathering
Lake Charles Fall Field Day - Burton Coliseum - October 19,
2024
The mission of SCKA has always been to promote, mentor,
and educate sheep herders, seasoned veterans, and newbies
alike.
This October fall event overachieved our expectations in
educational information. We were honored to showcase
three veterinarians who brought highly sought after
information to our audience of new and old shepherds,
highlighted informative demonstrations and debunked old

theories by means of science. The speakers discussed ideas of
how nutritional, mineral absorbing and plant based our pastures
contain in raising good quality healthy, sound sheep and the need
to supplement. Together, they spoke of how and why we need to
introduce needed sources of copper that America's heartland is
lacking, why it's necessary and how it benefits the herds.
Many questions were asked by our attendees and thought-
provoking answers given by our group of speakers. Everyone was
amazed by this information and stated that they enjoyed the
presentation and learned more than they could process. Sheep
represented by attendees for this event comprised of at least 2500
on farms. The importance of education is invaluable.
